  1. Ahoy!

Methinks you need to do Monroe. I’m liking him more and more..not because of anything he’s done, but because I’m becoming more and more afraid of Jason Smiths size and Oher’s intelligence/awareness.

Monroe is the reason Brandon Albert played guard…and Albert is now the Chiefs left tackle. That has to say something. I’ve heard it said that he’s lazy and unmotivated, is that shown in his play? Or are people just making assumptions because he’s more skilled as a pass protector than as a run blocker?

  2. I meant:

“Do you think you’ll get to Monroe? Please?”

  3. Yeah, I’ll get to Monroe. My goal is to get to all of the 1st rounders from a BCS school, at least. I just got done converting some U of Virginia files to a format that I can watch, so he’s on the list. I might do Maclin next, cause I promised someone I’d get to him soon, we’ll see how many Missou files I have.

Anyways, the one game I did an “impression” on Monroe, I was not pleased. Athletically, he did fine against USC. But he looked lazy. I estimate he could’ve earned his team another 30+ rushing yards that game just by playing to the whistle. According to someone else I talked to, who does this scouting thing as well, he came to the same conclusion with Monroe.

  4. Excellent, I guess I’ll reserve a lot of judgment until you get to more film. Thank you much.

Man, the OT’s are scary this year…..

People that said this year was better than last year must know something I don’t know.

  5. It’s more talented:
    J. Smith, Oher, and Monroe are as talented as Clady, and moreso than Long and Otah (Williams was probably as talented as any of them, in terms of athleticism, though he was never a drive-blocker in school). Andre Smith is an odd sort of talent, in some ways more talented than anyone.

But this class is FAR riskier. I’m not sure any of the OTs this year are safe picks. If you pulled a name out of a hat and told me that OT would be an NFL bust, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Will Jason Smith be big enough to anchor? Will Andre Smith ever handle speed rushers? Will Oher learn the mental part of the game? Will Monroe work hard enough to be a worthy of a top-5 selection? Good questions, and I can’t give you a definitive answer.

  6. Hey there, just wanted to let you know that the link to Oher’s report points to A. Smith’s.

And thanks for the hard work, I’m amazed you put in so much with school going on too. Cheers to you from a Western grad.

    • Thanks for pointing that out! WordPress is an absolute pain to work with in regards to links, I’ll try to get that taken care of.

This quarter is taking a bite out of my scouting, I gotta admit. Last couple quarters have been pretty easy.
